Santa Marta is located on the northern coast, along the Caribbean Sea. The city probably has the best beaches of the country, and it's an attractive tourist destination, boasting ideal weather, beautiful views, mountains, and Caribbean ambience. Santa Marta is on the Sierra Nevada skirt, one of the highest snow peaks of the Andes. The Sierra blows fresh air to the city and beach in contrast to the usual high temperatures along the coast. A number of sights are worth seeing, such as the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, the custom house, San Francisco church, and more.
