Villa Diana is just outside the village of Nemi and 30kms from the centre of Rome. Nemi is a very pretty medieval village high on the hillside above the lake of the same name, with an old castle in the village centre. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Apart from visiting Rome (which is an hour away by public transport), there is Frascati, home of the white wine of that name,Tivoli, Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's summer residence and Tivoli to name but a few, along with the remains of the Temple of Diana by the Nemi lakeside. The city is 500m above sea level.
