Vacation Tips
The process of buying a timeshare can be confusing to some. Buy and Sell Timeshares has over 10 years in the timeshare secondary market. We've put together a list of tips to keep in mind before you buy a timeshare. When planning a timeshare vacation, include all family members so that everyone's wants and needs are considered.
Research your destination on the internet and/or with books prior to departure to make the most of your timeshare vacation time. You may want to contact a local chamber of commerce for money-saving coupons and attraction information.
Keep a checklist of items to pack and mark the items off as you go.
Pack comfortable and versatile clothing to extend your vacation wardrobe.
Bring enough toys, games, books, snacks and drinks for the kids for a peaceful road trip or flight. Portable DVD and MP3 players can make the trip easier.
Pack early so everyone can get a good night's sleep before the timeshare vacation.
Make arrangements for pets at home or if you are planning to bring a pet, make sure they are allowed and can be safely accommodated in the timeshare.
If driving, plan your route ahead of time and keep a road atlas with you. Make sure your vehicle is current on service and check the oil and tire pressure.
If flying, call the airline or visit the airline's website to confirm time of departure before leaving for the airport. Bring a small carry-on bag containing essentials in case your baggage is delayed or lost. Label each piece of luggage with your name and address.
Don't forget to protect your home while you are away. Set your thermostat appropriately. Secure your valuables. Have a trusted person check your mail and keep an eye on your home. Place your newspaper delivery on hold. Keep your answering machine message simple without indication that you are away on vacation.
Make an emergency numbers list in case of theft of traveler's checks or credit cards. Photocopy itinerary, IDs and other travel documents and place in a safe or other secure place when you arrive at your timeshare.
Leave non-essential credit cards and social security cards at home in a safe place.
Use credit cards and traveler's checks when possible instead of cash. Avoid carrying a large amount of cash.
When you arrive at your timeshare, locate the exits in case of emergency.
When sightseeing, arrange a safe place to meet in case a family member gets separated.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Don't look lost.
If vacationing in a sunny locale, wear sunscreen and a hat, and remember to drink plenty of water. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, especially if walking long distances or visiting a theme park.
Respect the environment. Be careful around wildlife and never feed wild animals. When hiking, stay on marked trails and pack out everything you bring in if there are no waste receptacles. At beaches, do not collect live seashells or starfish.
