The way Fairshare Plus works is straightforward. Fairshare Plus members receive an allotment of points (the symbolic point value of the timeshare deeded interest(s) assigned to the program) annually or bi-annually added to their Fairshare Plus points account.

Within the Fairshare Plus program every day of the year for each lodging type at every Fairshare Plus resort location has an assigned a point value or cost that varies by season and day of the week at a specific resort location.

Members can then use their annual point allocation or accumulated points as currency to reserve vacations at Fairshare Plus resorts or through RCI external exchange for vacations at non-Fairfield resorts worldwide.

Ownership Types
There are three basic types of ownership represented within the Fairshare Plus program: Undivided Interest (UDI), Fixed Week and Float Week.

Undivided Interest (UDI)
An Undivided Interest (UDI) owner has a shared interest in a group of lodging units within a complex of lodging units called a phase at a Fairshare Plus resort. The size of a Phase can range from a dozen lodging units to a hundred or more units. The ownership rights are permanently assigned to the Fairshare Plus program in exchange for an established annual point value provided to owners.

Fixed Week
Fixed week owners own a deeded interest in a specific week and unit at a Fairfield resort. The use rights of the designated week are permanently assigned to the Fairshare Plus program by the owner in exchange for an annual package of points equal to the value established for the week within the Fairshare Plus system.

Float Week
Float week ownership is the same as a fixed week but the use right is for use within a certain time period or season of the year. The use rights of an owner are permanently assigned to the Fairshare Plus program in exchange for points equal to the point value given to the fixed week (with in the specified float period) in the Fairshare Plus program

Resort Location Types
Fairshare Plus Resorts are those resorts that have been developed or acquired, sold and are managed by Wyndham Resorts (Fairfield).

Affiliate Resorts are resorts not developed or managed by Fairfield. These are resorts with an affiliation agreement with Fairfield that allows owners who purchased fixed or floating timeshare at the affiliated resort to assign their use rights to the Fairshare Plus program. This gives the owner use rights within the Fairshare Plus system and provides access for Fairshare Plus members to vacation lodging at these resorts.

Associate Resorts are additional non-Fairfield developed or managed resorts and hotels that are under lease agreements for a period of time during which Fairshare Plus members in good standing, can utilize their Fairshare Plus points to vacation at these resort locations. These are generally high demand and high quality resort locations where there is limited availability.

Points Charts
Fairshare Plus members have access to an elaborate point charts guide for each resort type and resort within the program. These charts provide complete information on the amount of points required for each type of lodging accommodation at a given resort location. In considering a vacation reservation within the Fairshare Plus program a Fairshare Plus member should think of the acronym "SALT" and determine the following:
Season of the year desired
Accommodation type (unit size desired)
Location of resort desired
Time or number of vacation days desired,

Think SALT as a first step to selecting and requesting a reservation. The number of points needed for a specific Fairshare Plus resort reservation are based on the season, accommodation type/size, resort location, and number of days requested.
